Twin Water Towers

The Twin Water Towers are a Guangdong Provincial Cultural Heritage Site.

The Twin Water Towers, also known as the Shuikou Tower and commonly referred to as the White Tower, are located near Shuikou Village in Fuxi Town, Renhua County, Shaoguan City. They are a provincial-level cultural heritage site.

Constructed in the 44th year of the Wanli reign during the Ming Dynasty (1616), the towers are octagonal, seven-story, flat-platform pavilion-style brick structures, standing 24.8 meters tall in total. Their overall architectural form and style resemble those of the Wenfeng Tower in the county seat, though they are slightly smaller in scale. A red sandstone plaque is placed above the doorway, inscribed with the four characters “Wen Guang Hui Ying” (Literary Radiance Shines Forth). The Twin Water Towers feature a unique structural design: instead of using a central floor to create passages, the inner stairway is integrated into the wall thickness, utilizing a spiral staircase that runs through the walls all the way to the top.

In 1989, the Renhua Twin Water Towers were listed as a county-level cultural heritage site.

In 2008, the Shaoguan Renhua Twin Water Towers were included in the fifth batch of Guangdong Provincial Cultural Heritage Sites.
