Former Residence of Ye Zhuo

The former residence of Ye Zhuo is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former residence of Ye Zhuo is located in Dongsu, Dongshan Village, Dengyun Town, Longchuan County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province. Built during the Qing Dynasty, it faces north and is situated to the south. It features a three-courtyard, three-wing (with one left wing) and two enclosed compounds layout, with the main house arranged in an upper-three lower-three structure. It spans 39 meters in width and 51 meters in depth, covering a construction area of 1,989 square meters.

Ye Zhuo (1891–1930), originally named Zhuo Qing, was a native of Dongshan Village, Dengyun Town, Longchuan County. In 1922, he joined the Guangzhou Stone Traders’ Union and devoted himself to the labor movement. In the spring of 1925, he became a member of the Chinese Communist Party. In 1926, he actively participated in the Canton–Hong Kong strike, and in October of the same year, returned to his hometown to help reorganize the Shuangqiao Township Peasant Association and lead the “25% rent reduction” campaign. He later returned to Guangzhou to serve as chairman of the Stone Traders’ Union. In October 1927, he returned to Longchuan to carry out workers' and peasants' movements. In February 1928, he was elected as a member of the Longchuan County Revolutionary Committee and helped plan the armed uprising in Heshi. In early April of the same year, he established the Provisional Committee of the Fifth-Hsing-Long County CPC Branch on Mount Huo and was elected its secretary. The following January, he also served as the secretary of the Provisional Committee of the Longchuan County CPC Branch, and in December, as the head of the Organization Department of the Longchuan County CPC Committee. In July 1930, he was unfortunately arrested in Tianbei, Longmu, and was executed in Tuocheng in December at the age of 39.
