Kengzaili Site

The Kengzaili Site is a protected cultural heritage site of Guangdong Province.

The Kengzaili Site is located on Kengzili Mountain in the southwest of Tuocheng Town, Longchuan County. It dates back to the Shang Dynasty. Discovered in 1956, the site has been re-examined multiple times since then. The cultural layer is 0.6 meters thick. A large number of pottery and stone artifacts were unearthed. The pottery includes folded-shoulder concave-base jars, shallow-dish cups with slender handles, cups, ring-foot chicken-shaped pots, spinning whorls, etc., with grid patterns as the main decorative motif, as well as zigzag patterns and double-line grid patterns. The stone tools include trapezoidal adzes, shouldered adzes, arrowheads, halberds, rings, etc. According to investigation, some of the artifacts appear to have come from burial sites.

In July 1962, the People's Committee of Guangdong Province designated it as a protected cultural heritage site.

Tuocheng Town: Located at the southernmost tip of Longchuan County, Tuocheng Town has a history of 2,221 years and is one of the first batch of historical and cultural cities in Guangdong Province. It has always been an important hub for political, economic, and cultural activities in Longchuan County. The town covers a total area of 218 square kilometers, comprising 17 administrative villages and one neighborhood committee, with a total population of 43,218. In 2006, the town achieved a gross national product of 260 million yuan. With a long history, the town boasts many historic relics.
