One of Inner Mongolia's Top Ten Discoveries – the Yelü Yuzhi Family Tomb Complex. Ar Horqin Banner boasts a documented and artifact-supported history of over 5,000 years. Within the banner, there are 204 ancient sites, 7 ancient kiln sites, and 190 ancient tombs. The Yelü Yuzhi Family Tomb Complex is one of them, located at the southern foot of Chaogetu Mountain in Gurvan Hush Sumu, Hansum Sumu, Ar Horqin Banner. This is a grand tomb from the early Liao Dynasty, with an exquisitely built and intricately structured burial chamber that resembles an underground palace. Notably, the floor of the tomb chamber is paved with glazed bricks, giving the entire space an elegant and luxurious feel with colorful walls – a feature never before seen in previously discovered Liao tombs, making it truly unique. In 1992, it was ranked as one of the "Top Ten New Archaeological Discoveries in China" by authoritative domestic institutions. Surrounded by mountains and abundant vegetation, the site has in recent years attracted cultural heritage experts from across the country, as well as international tourists from Japan, the UK, the US, Germany, Canada, South Korea, and more. It is a scenic treasure waiting to be fully developed, combining sightseeing, archaeology, and ethnic culture.

Best Time to Visit: July to October is recommended, as other seasons experience strong sandstorms. The weather in Ar Horqin Banner can change drastically.

Transportation to the Site: Take a bus to Chifeng City, where there are direct tourist buses to the site.
