Former Site of the Longchuan Party Organization Training Class and Communication Station

The former site of the Longchuan Party Organization Training Class and Communication Station is located in the Wakou Watchtower in Jiandong Village, Laolong Town, Longchuan County.

In February 1941, the Houdong Special Committee was established in Laolong Town, Longchuan County. To implement the directives of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and based on the actual conditions of the Kuomintang-controlled area in the rear of the anti-Japanese resistance along the Dongjiang River, the Houdong Special Committee took the lead in organizing various levels of training classes for the backbone members of party organizations across counties in Longchuan, aiming to strengthen the organizational discipline of party members, improve their political theoretical level, and enhance their ability to carry out covert work. From June 1941 to February 1942, under the guidance of the Houdong Special Committee, the Longchuan County Committee successively held various levels of training classes in Yonghe, Longmu; Nanke Liao, Zishi; Jiandong, Laolong; Tianxin Tun, Tongqu; Liu Guo-, Jiandong; Zheng Meilin, Dengyun; and at the home of Zheng Feng. These training sessions typically lasted ten days per session, and participants included youth movement cadres and women party members from various counties and districts.

The Wakou Watchtower was one of the training venues for the classes and served as an important activity base for the underground Communist Party of Longchuan. Many party leaders, including Liang Weilin, Rao Huangxiang, and Zhong Junxian, once stayed in the watchtower. Additionally, the watchtower was also used to store weapons, ammunition, and other supplies gathered by the party organization.
