Dalahe Grassland Tourist Area

The Dalahe Grassland Tourist Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Dalahe Grassland Tourist Area is located in Dalahe Gacha, Zasitai Town, Ar Horqin Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia. Zasitai, which means "a place with fish" in Mongolian, gives its name to Zasitai Town. This town is 40 kilometers from Tianshan Town, the seat of Ar Horqin Banner government, and 370 kilometers from Chifeng. The tourist site is an area rich in diverse tourism resources, where grasslands, lakes, sandy land, and green trees complement each other, creating picturesque scenery. Within the area, there are as many as eight lakes each covering over a thousand mu. Among them, Dalahe Lake spans more than 8,000 mu and is a freshwater lake, home to a variety of fish such as carp, silver carp, and crucian carp. The lake is surrounded by dense reeds, with endless yellow willows, sea buckthorns, and nitre bushes spreading out to the north, and a wide expanse of snow-white sandy beach stretching a hundred meters to the south. To the east and west, it connects with other smaller lakes, while in the center lies a sand island. In spring and summer, water birds such as white swans, wild geese, grey cranes, and ducks play on the lake surface, creating a charming and naturally delightful view.

The lake area is well-equipped with auxiliary facilities. Program-controlled telephones and tourist roads have been successively established. Biological engineering projects have been implemented around the lake, including the planting of scenic trees such as weeping willows and dragon beard willows, as well as windbreak species like poplars, sea buckthorns, and white nitre bushes. In the better-vegetated areas to the north of the lake, Mongolian yurts are dotted around. Tourist activities include grassland sightseeing, horse riding, archery, and riding a Lelé cart—entertainment options that highlight the unique charm of the grasslands. Cooling pavilions and fishing platforms have been built around and on the central sand island of the lake. Motorboats and pleasure boats have also been introduced, developing the lake area into a recreational destination. Visitors can enjoy the simplicity of Mongolian yurts, the aroma of milk tea, the thrill of galloping on horseback, and experience the boldness and openness of the grassland people. They can also go fishing, boat on the lake, admire water birds from the shore, and take in the distinctive scenery of the northern grasslands.

The most famous dishes in the Dalahe Tourist Area are the "All-Fish Feast" and the "All-Lamb Feast." The fish and lamb used in these feasts are all locally produced within the scenic area, and are slaughtered and cooked on the spot. Therefore, watching the preparation process of the "All-Fish Feast" and the "All-Lamb Feast" has become another highlight of the attraction.
