Lingyue Temple

Lingyue Temple is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Located in Jinshan Town, Harqin Banner. Built during the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty. The temple complex consists of over 50 structures covering an area of 25 acres. Along the central axis are the mountain gate, front hall, middle hall, and main rear hall, with bell and drum towers on the east and west sides. The Buddha halls and scripture rooms feature three types of architectural styles—hip-and-gable, flush-gable, and pavilion-style—representing the form and layout of traditional Han Chinese Buddhist temple architecture. The temple originally housed statues such as Sakyamuni, the Four Heavenly Kings, and the Eighteen Arhats, as well as prayer wheels approximately 7 meters and 2 meters high, which are now partially damaged.

Travel Season: Every year during January and June, it is customary for monks to gather at the temple to chant scriptures. The Scripture Hall houses over 200 volumes of various sutras. As Tibetan Buddhism became the unified faith of the Mongolian people during the Qing Dynasty, this magnificent temple has continued to attract visitors despite the passage of time.

Transportation: Take a bus from Chifeng to Jinshan, which takes just over an hour to reach Harqin Banner. Lingyue Temple is located right opposite the government compound of Harqin Banner.

Local Cuisine: Hada Huoshao (flatbread), hand-grabbed lamb, whole roasted lamb, and a variety of dairy products.
