The fifth edition of the FIS Cross-Country China Tour race in Xiwuqiqi Banner, Inner Mongolia, concluded on the 4th. A total of 75 athletes from 10 countries, including China, Sweden, and Norway, took part in the event.
Due to preparations for the upcoming National Winter Games, the Chinese cross-country skiing team only sent young athletes to compete. In the end, Li Lei secured eighth place in the women’s sprint. On the first day of the men’s and women’s long-distance freestyle races, Swedish star athlete Högberg and Norwegian athlete Stensland claimed the men’s and women’s titles respectively. On the second day, during the men’s and women’s sprint freestyle events, Stensland won her second gold medal of the competition, while the men’s title went to Estonian athlete Sallis, who was competing in China for the first time.
The event was jointly organized by the Chinese Ski Association, the government of Xiwuqiqi Banner, and Beijing Nordic Ways Management Consulting Co., Ltd. It also served as a key highlight of the annual “Silver Xiwuqiqi – Grassland Ice and Snow Carnival.”
