The Monument and Pavilion for the Martyrs of the Dongjiang Guerrilla Unit Who Sacrificed Their Lives on Luofu Mountain is a classic red tourism site and a patriotic education base.

The Monument and Pavilion for the Martyrs of the Dongjiang Guerrilla Unit Who Sacrificed Their Lives on Luofu Mountain is located on the western hillside behind Changning Town in Boluo County. The monument and pavilion complex covers an area of approximately 1,000 square meters. The base of the monument is square-shaped, while the body of the monument is conical. It stands 6.8 meters tall, with the front side inscribed with 22 characters reading “Monument to the Martyrs of the Communist Party of China’s Guangdong Dongjiang Guerrilla Unit Who Sacrificed Their Lives on Luofu Mountain.”

The memorial pavilion is situated five to six meters directly in front of the monument. It covers an area of about 20 square meters, stands around 5 meters tall, has an octagonal base, and features a two-tiered top that rises like a pagoda, also in an octagonal shape. It is supported by eight cement red pillars, each with a diameter of about 40 centimeters. The eaves around the pavilion are trimmed with green glazed tiles.

In 1958, the People’s Committee of Boluo County gathered the remains of Dongjiang guerrilla martyrs who had been buried separately on Luofu Mountain and interred them together on the western hillside behind Changning Town. A monument and pavilion were erected in their honor. In 2001, the Changning Town government renovated the monument and pavilion complex. It is now a patriotic education base for the central primary school and youth of Changning Town.

Changning Town: Located in the eastern part of the Pearl River Delta and the western part of Boluo County, Changning Town lies at the foot of Luofu Mountain, known as the “First Mountain of Lingnan.” The town is traversed by the Guangzhou-Shanwei and Guangzhou-Meizhou highways, and the Guangzhou-Huizhou Expressway has an interchange here, providing convenient transportation. The town covers a total area of 117 square kilometers, with a population of 41,000. It administers one neighborhood committee, 14 village committees, and 173 villager groups.
