Former Residence of Li Yuan

The Former Residence of Li Yuan is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Former Residence of Li Yuan is located in Liwu Village, Heshan, Yuanzhou Town, Boluo County. Built during the Qing Dynasty, it consists of two brick-and-wood single-story houses with flush gable roofs, covering an area of over 82 square meters.

Li Yuan (1904–1928) was born here in 1904 and lived here for 15 years. In 1922, he took part in the Hong Kong Seamen’s Strike; in 1925, he joined the Canton–Hong Kong Strike and became a member of the Communist Party of China. In 1927, he participated in the Guangzhou Uprising. In May 1928, he was appointed Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC, among other positions. In June, he was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the CPC. In the autumn of 1928, he was killed while on a work assignment to eastern Guangdong.
