Xianxia Waterfall

Nestled within the serene, dense forests of Nankun Mountain, the waterfall cascades down like a white silk ribbon, its crystal-clear emerald waters refreshing to the soul.

Legend has it that long ago, Nankun Mountain, blessed with an exceptional geographical setting and a pleasant climate, attracted many settlers. It could truly be called a paradise on earth. But at some point, news of this reached the ears of three demons, who were determined to seize the place and turn it into their own comfortable den. In no time, the entire Nankun Mountain became shrouded in filth and devastation, frightening both humans and animals and sending birds and beasts fleeing.

As a result, those unwilling to live under threat rose up. They restored the bamboo groves, replanted trees, cleared the rivers, and rebuilt their homes, engaging in a fierce struggle against the demons. After repeated battles, the three demons failed to prevail, growing increasingly frustrated and vengeful. They unleashed their most vicious attack: the Wind Demon blew poisonous gases, the Dust Demon stirred up toxic fog, and the Fire Demon spewed venomous flames. They hoped to achieve total victory in one decisive blow—depriving everyone of their strength so they could realize their scheme of ruling over Nankun.

The incident alarmed the heavens, and the celestial beings were filled with righteous fury. The Jade Emperor immediately dispatched three powerful immortals, each armed with their own magical treasures, to descend to the mortal realm and aid the people of Nankun in defeating the three demons. They were: the Laughing Heavenly Venerable, the Milky Way Censor, and the Radiant Light Bodhisattva. Their respective magical treasures were: the Universe Gourd, the Immortal Dew Jade Vase, and the Shining Heaven Mirror.

After an intense battle, the three demons were vanquished, and light returned to the world. The three immortals then helped the people rebuild their homes. Using water from the Milky Way, they cleansed the dust, dredged the rivers, and revitalized the fields, forests, and rice paddies. They also carved out an immortal pool, filling it with sacred water for people to wash away the toxins. The waterfall formed by the pool’s drop sparkled under the clear sunlight, with droplets flying and mist rising like rosy clouds, creating a heavenly veil that enveloped Nankun, forever shielding it from pestilence. From then on, Nankun regained its former prosperity and beauty.

After the three immortals departed, the locals built a shrine to the “Three Immortals” not far from the immortal pool, establishing a lasting place of worship. The curling incense smoke blended with the mist rising from the pool, resembling a heavenly glow. Thus, this beautiful sight came to be known as the “Xianxia Flying Waterfall.”
