Riding the wave of the centennial Republic of China marriage boom, Kinmen County launched the “Love in Kinmen, A Century of Harmony” wedding photography award and subsidy campaign in June this year. From the 83 submitted works, four major awards were given out—“Best Creativity Award,” “Best Styling Award,” “Best Theme Award,” and “Best Visual Design Award”—as well as a “People’s Choice Award,” which was determined by over 10,000 online voters. Each winning couple received a prize of NT$10,000.

The campaign was divided into two main components. One was a wedding photography subsidy program for 100 couples, which offered full transportation and accommodation subsidies totaling NT$23,760 to the first 30 registrants, while the remaining 70 couples each received NT$8,000 in support. Additionally, an online public voting event for photographic works attracted over 10,000 participants, with the “People’s Choice Award” going to the photo “Kui Bi Lian Hui” (Linked Splendor), submitted by netizen Dong Senbao, which garnered 8,230 votes.

In terms of the 100-couple wedding photography subsidy slots, a total of 113 couples signed up, including 43 from Xiamen on the mainland, accounting for nearly 40% of the total. This highlights the success of Kinmen County’s efforts to promote wedding tourism and has also allowed people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to get to know Kinmen better through this event.
