The Ancient Residential Complex of Sanguang Tower

The Ancient Residential Complex of Sanguang Tower is a cultural heritage site protected by Longmen County.

The Ancient Residential Complex of Sanguang Tower is located in Gongwu Village, Longhua Town, Longmen County. Built during the Qing Dynasty, it includes ancient residences, ancestral halls, and the Yushu Garden. The surrounding gate has three bays in width, with the name "Sanguang Tower" inscribed in regular script on the second floor of the central bay. The ancestral hall is situated along the central axis of the residential complex, flanked by residential houses. The ancestral hall faces the surrounding gate, and is a three-courtyard, five-bay building. The ancestral hall is also flanked by lanes and residential dwellings.

The Yushu Garden Study is a two-courtyard, quadrangle-style structure. The plaque above the gate is inscribed with the characters “Yushu Garden” in regular script. It has a depth of one bay, with a central hall and study rooms on either side.

The Ancient Residential Complex of Sanguang Tower provides valuable physical material for the study of traditional Qing Dynasty architecture and living customs in the region.

Gongwu Village: The ancient architectural complex of Gongwu Village is located in Gongwu Village, Longhua Town, Longmen County, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, and dates back to the Qing Dynasty. The complex includes the Wuzhai Residence, the ancient wharf, Zheng Street, and the Ancestral Hall of the Liao Family. There are currently over a thousand well-preserved ancient residences, more than ten courtyards, among which the beams, wood carvings, lime plaster reliefs, bluestone brick walls of the Wuzhai Residence and the Liao Family Ancestral Hall, as well as the L-shaped service counters of shops on Zheng Street, hold significant artistic and research value. On July 17, 2002, it was announced as part of the fourth batch of Guangdong Provincial Cultural Heritage Sites.
