The Former Residence of Ye Ting (General Ye Ting Memorial Park) is a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction, a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, a Classic Red Tourism Destination, and a Patriotic Education Base.

Former Residence of Ye Ting: It is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a municipal-level patriotic and Party history education base. The residence was built by his grandfather, Ye Peilin, over 100 years ago. After the founding of New China, it has been under the protection of the people’s government and was listed as a Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit of Huiyang County in 1978; on July 1, 1980, it was officially opened to the public after renovation. On June 26, 1989, the provincial government approved the former residence as a Provincial-Level Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Former Residence of Ye Ting

To accelerate the protection, development, and utilization of the former residence, in September 2001, Huiyang established a renovation leadership group for the former residence of Ye Ting. This initiated the project to renovate and expand the greening of the site, actively raising funds to push forward the restoration work and supporting road construction: the General’s Road from Qiuchang Town to Zhoutian Huishuilou Village was completed, a 2,000-square-meter square in front of the former residence was built, and a bronze statue of Ye Ting was erected in the center of the square; the dilapidated wooden chairs, earthen walls, and other structures such as the house and reading pavilion were restored according to the principle of “repairing the old as it was”; a perimeter wall was also built within the protected area of the former residence along with landscaping efforts, bringing the green space to 3,000 square meters. The entire renovation project was completed in May 2003, and a grand reopening ceremony was held on September 10, the 107th anniversary of Ye Ting’s birth.

Since its opening, the Former Residence of Ye Ting has become a patriotic, revolutionary tradition, Party history, and military education base for schools, government agencies, factories, mines, military units, and Party organizations in Huiyang District and surrounding cities and counties (districts).

Ye Ting (1896–1946), styled Xiyi and also known as Xiping, was from Huizhou County, Zhoutian Huishuilou Village, Qiuchang Town. He was a renowned Chinese military strategist and one of the founders of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

He was born in 1896 in Huizhou County, Guangdong.

In 1911, at the age of 15, while studying at the Huizhou Government Middle Specialized School, Ye Ting resolutely cut off his queue (braided hair) and resolutely joined Sun Yat-sen’s struggle against the feudal rule of the Qing Dynasty.
