Xiaolajia Island

Xiaolajia Island

Different from Dalajia Island, it is one of the many islands in Daya Bay. Originally, most fishermen who passed through here spoke Teochew dialect, in which the word for "six" is pronounced as "la," hence it is commonly referred to as Dalajia Island. Far from the mainland, it is a scenic and ecological island.

Xiaolajia is too small to have commercial development value. However, because it has not been developed into a tourist site, it largely retains its natural features. There are two small hills on the island. The shoreline is abundant with cone snails, horn snails, small sea snails, scallops, mussels, pearl oysters, sea urchins, and various fish species, and coral can be found further off the island.
