Monument to Revolutionary Martyrs of Xinqiao

The Monument to Revolutionary Martyrs of Xinqiao is located in Hengpailang Village Group, Xinqiao Village, Danshui Subdistrict. To commemorate the 20 revolutionary martyrs from Xinqiao Village who sacrificed their lives during the Anti-Japanese War and the Liberation War, including Liu Tian, Qiu Zaiguang, and Qiu Shengping, the Xinqiao Village Committee initiated the construction of the monument in 2001.

In the early stages of the Anti-Japanese War, Xinqiao Village established an “Anti-Japanese Salvation Study Group,” set up night schools for farmers, and organized a model militia team for the resistance. The people of Xinqiao shed blood and sacrificed their lives, with generation after generation of outstanding youths marching to the battlefield and making due contributions to the liberation of the Chinese people.

The front of the monument is inscribed with the names of the martyrs, while the back features accounts of their lives and deeds. A red five-pointed star crowns the top of the monument. Since its completion, around Tomb-Sweeping Day each year, the Xinqiao Village Committee has organized local teachers and students to pay their respects, inviting veterans to share stories of the revolutionary struggle. It has become a base for revolutionary tradition education in Xinqiao Village.

Xinqiao Village is located east of Danshui in Huiyang District. It borders Shatian Juzilang to the east, the Daya Bay to the south, Donghua Village to the west, and Guwu Village to the north. The village covers a total area of approximately seven square kilometers, with about 3,000 mu of arable land. It comprises 22 natural village groups, with 1,075 permanent households, a population of 5,298, and 2,598 migrant residents.
