Liuzhaolou

Liuzhaolou is a Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Liuzhaolou is located in Chayuan Village, Qiuchang Subdistrict, Huiyang District, covering an area of 2,300 square meters. It is a Hakka enclosed dragon house built during the Qing Dynasty using materials such as lime-soil mixture and wood.

During the rescue operation of Hong Kong’s cultural figures during the War of Resistance against Japan, Liuzhaolou served as a transfer station for the secret evacuation. Hundreds of individuals, including Liao Chengzhi, Lian Guan, Qiao Guanhua, the couple Mao Dun, the couple Liao Mosha, and Hu Feng, first arrived at Suiqian Xinju and Liuzhaolou in Zhoutian Village, present-day Qiuchang, for rest and recuperation.
