Hui Xin Building
Hui Xin Building is a Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
Hui Xin Building is located in Zhoutian Village, Qiuchang Subdistrict Office. Built during the Republic of China era, it faces south and measures 50 meters in width and 22 meters in depth, covering a total area of 1,100 square meters. It is a Hakka enclosed house complex consisting of a front enclosure, main hall, wing rooms, and corner towers. In front of the courtyard is a pond. The front facade of the enclosed building has three gates, with the central gate serving as the main axis ancestral hall entrance, featuring a bluestone plaque inlaid on the door. The central part of the plaque is engraved in relief with the three characters “Hui Xin Building,” inscribed by Zou Lu. Stepping through the main gate leads to a corridor that connects the entire structure. The first entrance hall has rooms on both sides, behind which is a wooden screen door with the inscription “Yi Shi Qi Chang” (May Prosperity Last for Generations) on the back; the second hall is an open central chamber, with a couplet on the screen partition reading “Newly built hall, may numerous descendants bring boundless joy; beautifully adorned carriage, joyfully cultivating orchids and osmanthus that rise in fragrance.” The walls feature murals, and there are rooms on both sides. The two halls are separated by a courtyard, with wing corridors and side rooms on either side of the courtyard. The central axis and wing rooms are divided by a sky well. The exterior walls of the entire enclosed building are decorated with Western-style stucco molding. This building blends Chinese and Western architectural styles and is a fairly typical structure from the Republic of China period. Hui Xin Building once served as the base for the Dongjiang Special Committee, the County Committee, the Jiangnan Command, and the Second Detachment of the Dongjiang Column.
