The Zhaidingshang Mountain Ruins

The Zhaidingshang Mountain Ruins are a cultural heritage site protected by Pingyuan County.

The Zhaidingshang Mountain Ruins are located in Longjing Village, Changtian Township, Pingyuan County. Dating back to the Western Zhou Dynasty, they were discovered in 1986. Artifacts are mainly distributed across the mountaintop platform and the southern hillside. The unearthed pottery is predominantly made of fine clay with a high firing temperature. Vessel types include jars, cauldrons, bowls, and pedestals, often featuring folded shoulders, tall necks, round or concave round bases. Decorative patterns include mat impressions, diamond grids, square grids, coarse grids, double-line grids, cord marks, thundercloud motifs, and basket weaves, with a small number featuring combined thundercloud and square grid patterns. Stone tools are mostly semi-finished items, including types such as spades, adzes, stepped adzes, halberds, spears, and whetstones. Among them, the spades—characterized by their large size and shoulder ridges—are the most distinctive and likely served as agricultural implements. It can be confirmed that this site was a stone tool workshop.
