The Dadongyan Cliff Inscriptions are located on the rock face at the front of the cave of Dongyan Temple (commonly known as Dadongyan) in Dongjiao Township, Meijiang District, Meizhou City. The Dadongyan Cliff Inscriptions are located on the rock face at the front of the cave of Dongyan Temple (commonly known as Dadongyan) in Dongjiao Township, Meijiang District, Meizhou City. The inscribed characters “石釜灵响” (“The Stone Cauldron’s Lingering Echo”) are written horizontally. The strokes are rounded and the composition is tight, with each character approximately 0.30 meters square. They were carved here by Lan Kui during his youth while he studied at this site. To the left of the cave is a rock that resonates when struck, known as the Stone Drum. Li Yizhen, a literati figure of the Ming Dynasty, once composed a poem titled “The Stone Drum of Dongyan”: “Even stubborn stone can serve to warn mankind, Awakening one’s worldly dreams in a springtime scene. The road is fraught with peril, wolves and beasts abound, Better to spend one’s life in retreat in these famed hills.”

In 1987, the Meixian County People's Government designated it as a cultural relic protection unit.
