Introduction

The Tomb of Aga Khan is located on the west bank of the Nile River and can be reached by felucca from the city of Aswan. It is open to visitors free of charge. This was the villa where Aga Khan lived during his lifetime. After his death in 1957, he was buried in the domed mausoleum built atop the villa. The white marble tomb is adorned with exquisite patterns and inscriptions from the Quran. Aga Khan was the spiritual leader of the Ismaili branch of Shia Islam and also a wealthy tycoon. On his 60th birthday in 1945, he publicly weighed his treasures and then distributed them among his followers.    Ticket/Opening Hours    Visiting hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; closed every Monday
