In the northeastern part of the country lies Kidepo Valley National Park, where undulating mountains, crisscrossing rivers, and lush forests create a spectacular scene. Birds sing in the woods, while clouds of colorful butterflies flutter through the air. These pristine wildlife sanctuaries, set against breathtaking lakes and mountain vistas, have long been renowned tourist destinations.

Kidepo Valley National Park is situated in the northeastern border region of the country, in the Kidepo Valley area where Uganda meets Sudan (Kenya's neighbor to the east). Established in 1962, the park covers an area of 1,442 square kilometers and is one of Uganda’s three major national parks. The landscape here features rolling hills, dense river networks, thick woodlands, and sprawling grasslands—all largely untouched by human activity, maintaining a pristine natural state. A wide variety of wildlife thrives within the park, including rare species such as the greater kudu. Upon entering the park, visitors can witness hundreds of ostriches chasing one another, tens of thousands of birds soaring through the skies, and countless colorful butterflies dancing in the air, forming an extraordinarily magnificent natural spectacle. The flora and fauna of Kidepo National Park exhibit more Kenyan characteristics than those found in other parts of Uganda. The park is dotted with rolling hills, rocky outcrops, and inselbergs, offering stunning views from every angle.
