Lake Mburo National Park

Lake Mburo National Park is located in the Mbarara District of western Uganda, just 30 kilometers from the district’s largest city, Mbarara, making it very accessible. Though the park covers an area of only 260 square kilometers, it boasts rich wildlife and beautiful scenery, and is also one of the famous tourist attractions in the western region of Uganda.

Lake Mburo National Park features a diverse range of landscapes and natural scenery, including vast wetlands, rolling hills, beautiful lakes, barren slopes, rugged rocks, dense thickets, open grasslands, and thick forests, all of which provide ideal conditions for the survival and growth of flora and fauna. The park is currently home to 68 species of wildlife, such as zebras, impalas, topis, elands, and buffaloes, as well as over 300 species of birds, including the shoebill stork, yellow-throated longclaw, African finfoot, wattled crane, brown-chested lapwing, Tabara’s warbler, snipes, and white-winged warbler, among which the shoebill stork is classified as a highly protected and rare bird species. In addition, the park also has a mountain peak called Kazuma, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire park.

Lake Mburo National Park is a truly unique place, where every corner is filled with diversity, charm, and vibrancy. The park also features several safari routes where visitors can spot a variety of adorable animals, dense acacia forests, bushes, and a wide array of exotic plants and flowers — making it a perfect opportunity to get close to nature.
