Semliki-National Park is located in the Bundibugyo District of western Uganda, bordering the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, adjacent to the Rwenzori Mountains to the southeast, and Lake Albert to the north. It covers an area of 194 square kilometers, with an average annual rainfall of 1,250 millimeters. Established as a national park in October 1993, it is one of Uganda’s newest national parks.

Semliki-National Park is one of the richest regions in Africa in terms of flora and fauna: according to statistics, over 400 bird species thrive in the park, including 216 strictly forest-dwelling birds. In addition, there are more than 60 mammal species such as forest buffalo, leopards, and elephants, over 300 butterfly species, and 8 primate species inhabiting the park. As a result, the national park is one of the best spots for wildlife viewing. Moreover, Semliki-National Park boasts stunning landscapes, featuring hot springs, swamps, and East Africa’s only lowland tropical rainforest, making it an excellent destination for nature exploration and appreciation.
