Murr's Volcano (Murr's Volcano), originally named Trou aux Cerfs, but frequently called Murr's Volcano by locals, is a dormant volcano in Curepipe town, Plaines Wilhems District, Mauritius. It stands at an elevation of 605 meters, and its prominent silhouette can be seen from far away in the town. The crater has a diameter of 300 to 350 meters and a depth of 80 meters. Experts predict that although the volcano is currently dormant, it may erupt again within the next few thousand years. A steep path leads to the crater, though it’s not particularly safe—the crater is blocked by water and debris, making it difficult to see clearly, and it is surrounded by a variety of tropical plants.
