Xilin River

The Xilin River is a national-level wetland park.

The Xilin River is an inland river on the Xilingol Grassland. Its source is located in Hexigten Banner, Chifeng City, and it flows around Xilinhot City. The scenery along the Xilin River is stunning, with the best viewing spot situated 15 kilometers south of Xilinhot City. The river winds naturally along the terrain, resembling a green silk ribbon swaying gently in the breeze. From a high vantage point, you can see the clear waters, lush green grass, and cattle and sheep scattered like pearls across both banks, creating a picturesque scene reminiscent of a beautiful grassland landscape painting. In 1983, the Sino-Italian co-produced historical epic film *Marco Polo* filmed numerous exterior scenes here. Located 13 kilometers southeast of Xilinhot City, visitors can admire the exceptionally beautiful meanders of the Xilin River, which have inspired many photography enthusiasts to capture stunning works. Today, the river is wide, with steep slopes on the right bank and gentle slopes on the left. The riverbed here shifts frequently, creating numerous winding curves. The floodplains on both sides of the riverbank are covered with dense reeds and other aquatic plants, adding to the beauty of the meanders. Downstream from these curves lies the Xilin River Reservoir, a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts. Along the winding riverbanks, uniquely shaped bedrock formations emerge, resembling giant viewing platforms left behind by our ancestors. From these heights, you can gaze upon the clear waters, lush green grass, and cattle and sheep scattered like pearls across the banks—a poetic and picturesque scene that unfolds like a grand tapestry of northern China’s scenic rivers and mountains.

Jingpeng Town: Jingpeng Town is located in Hexigten Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, serving as the seat of the Banner Committee and Banner People's Government. It is the political, economic, cultural, communication, information, and transportation hub of the entire banner.
