Attraction Introduction The Austrian royal family was the first to build a villa here. From the 1920s until the outbreak of World War II, the villas built by the Austrians were taken over by the Yugoslav royal family. In 1947, Tito rebuilt Bled Villa as his residence in Slovenia and used it to receive foreign leaders. In 1984, Bled Villa was opened to the public as a hotel. The villa's 1950s architecture has been well preserved, featuring an elegant yet classic style; the café was designed by the late renowned Slovenian architect Plesničar, overlooking the lake's small island with a broad and graceful view. The villa sits against the mountain and by the water, offering a serene and secluded retreat.
