Is this how you drink it? Slovenia unveils Europe’s first beer fountain

Located in Žalec in eastern Slovenia, plans to build the beer fountain were announced earlier this year, and this month, the fountain has officially opened to the public, attracting hundreds of visitors on a pilgrimage. There was even a light show on opening day.

According to Lonely Planet, although it’s called a fountain, it doesn’t actually spray water. The fountain is located next to the market, and this semi-circular design features eight taps offering different types of beer for everyone to try.

For just €6, you can get a glass and choose five different flavors of beer, including dark beer, honey light beer, and more.The local mayor said that the beer fountain isn’t meant to get visitors drunk, but rather to attract beer lovers from around the world to visit, as this is Slovenia’s hop-growing center.
