Tallinn Botanic Garden

Tallinn Botanic Garden is the largest botanical garden in Estonia, located in the capital city of Tallinn. Established in 1961, it covers an area of 123 hectares. It includes five large outdoor gardens: the Arboretum, Rose Garden, Herb Garden, Bulb Garden, and Summer Garden. In addition, there are many unique exhibition areas, including the Heather Garden, Lily Collection, Rock Garden, Peony Section, Astilbe and Forsythia displays, featuring over 8,000 different plant species. Here, visitors can easily stroll from the landscapes of Europe to Africa, the Americas to Australia, and even from deserts to rainforests—all within a few steps.

Most plants native to Estonia can be found in the garden, along with rare and ornamental species that thrive in Estonia’s cold climate. The garden houses approximately 2,400 greenhouse plants, including not only well-known varieties but also a wide range of other species such as palms, cacti, succulents, orchids, and arums. Additionally, there are many plants from Australia, Madagascar, the Canary Islands, and other regions. The garden also showcases various economic crops, such as coffee, cocoa, vanilla, cardamom, bananas, dates, lemons, olives, acacia, and black pepper.

Tallinn Botanic Garden hosts special plant exhibitions almost every month, with themes covering medicinal and poisonous plants, tropical fruits, fungi, and a variety of fresh-cut flowers. Visitors can enjoy different thematic exhibitions throughout the year, with the most popular being the Fragrant Summer Night Tour and the Rose Holiday Tour.
