Travel to Northern Europe on a Silversea cruise to witness the summer-exclusive white nights

Cruising the seas and exploring the world is already a rare and dreamlike journey, but witnessing spectacular seasonal phenomena will make your trip truly unforgettable. Between May and September 2013, two of Silversea’s luxury cruise ships will offer a series of exclusive and luxurious voyages. These journeys not only take guests to the most captivating spots in Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea, but also allow them to experience the region’s famous “white nights” during midsummer — a unique natural phenomenon where the sun remains visible below the horizon, keeping the night sky bright.

The Silver Whisper, with a passenger capacity of 382, will embark on a 7-day journey sailing between Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, and Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. The all-inclusive fare starts from US$3,450 (approximately NT$103,700) for the voyage departing Stockholm on July 12, 2013. Ports of call along the way include Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, where travelers can admire the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town of Tallinn. The cruise will then make a two-night stop in the beautiful city of St. Petersburg, Russia, giving guests ample time to explore attractions such as the Hermitage Museum and the Winter Palace. Later, the Silver Whisper will cross the Baltic Sea to reach Helsinki, the metropolitan capital of Finland.

 

Alternatively, travelers can opt for a 7-day enchanting journey starting and ending in Copenhagen, visiting some of Norway’s most spectacular fjords and snow-capped mountains, as well as discovering Viking history. The Silver Whisper will depart on July 19, 2013, crossing the Skagerrak Strait and the Kattegat Strait to visit Flåm, Gudvangen, Kristiansund, Hellesylt, Geiranger, and Bergen, Norway’s second-largest city. The all-inclusive fare starts from US$3,850 (approximately NT$115,700) per person.

 

Another member of the Silversea fleet, the intimate 296-passenger Silver Cloud, will offer a 10-day journey departing June 9, 2013, from Southampton, UK, to Copenhagen, Denmark. The route passes picturesque French port Honfleur; Belgian cities Oostende and Antwerp; Dutch capital Amsterdam; German ports Hamburg and Rostock’s Warnemünde; and Swedish city Helsingborg. The Silver Cloud will overnight in several vibrant cities — Amsterdam, Hamburg, and Copenhagen — allowing guests to explore them in depth. The all-inclusive fare starts from US$4,150 per person for a shared cabin.

 

At the same time, Silversea has also prepared a range of pre-, post-, and in-route land programs to enhance the travel experience. These include taking a high-speed train to Moscow, where guests can visit Red Square, enjoy an exclusive tour of the Kremlin Armory, and have lunch at the renowned Writers’ Club. Silversea’s fares include all-suite accommodations with butler service, gourmet cuisine designed by Relais & Châteaux, complimentary wine, champagne, and spirits throughout the ship, as well as all gratuities.
