Tallinn is the capital of Estonia and can be reached by ferry from Helsinki in about two hours. The ferry schedule is quite frequent.
The buildings in Tallinn’s Old Town are beautifuland picturesque,colorful and remarkably well-preserved. There are many souvenir shops, adorable Viking figurines, and stores selling sweaters, winter hats, and socks. It's perfect for a leisurely day of exploration. Just walk from the city gate (the lowest point on the map) to Margareta Tower (the highest point on the map), then take another route back to the city gate to complete your visit.

We had lunch at a restaurant in one corner of the square, where we tried Vana Tallinn, a locally advertised liquor that tastes a bit like rum and mixes well with coffee.People in medieval costumes can be seen all over the Old Town—it’s truly a tourist-oriented ancient city.
The streets and houses lining the Old Town are also very pretty, well-preserved, and colorful.

We booked a 17:30 ferry (M/S Star) to Helsinki. We took a taxi from the Old Town to the ferry terminal, which takes about five to ten minutes and costs around 2 euros (there are taxis right at the city gate).
The ferry has a supermarket and duty-free shops. Many people buy alcohol to take to Finland. We bought Finnish chocolate Fazer as a souvenir.
