Estonian Art Museum

The Estonian Art Museum was established in 1919 with the aim of collecting, preserving, and exhibiting Estonian art from the Middle Ages to the present. After nearly a century of development, this museum has grown into a world-class institution comprising five museums and has become one of the largest art museums in Europe.

As the largest art museum in Estonia, it houses a collection of up to 60,000 works, ranging from medieval altar decorations to contemporary art pieces. Although the museum also holds historical artworks from Western and Eastern Europe, its primary focus remains on Estonian art. The collection is divided into prints and drawings, oil paintings, sculptures, contemporary art, graphic design, silverware, and foreign art. It also includes works by artists such as Kristjan Raud and Adamson-Eric. With approximately 600 oil paintings and over 2,000 pieces of graphic design, the museum’s rich and diverse collection is truly awe-inspiring.
