Yin Mountains in Ulanqab League

The Yin Mountains stretch across the central part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Their Mongolian name, "Dalankara," means "Seventy Black Hills." The Yin Mountain range is an ancient fault-block mountain. It starts from the Huashan Mountain in eastern Hebei in the east and ends at the Langshan Mountain in the central part of Bayannur League in Inner Mongolia in the west, extending over 1,000 kilometers from east to west, with a width varying between 50 and 100 kilometers. The most distinctive feature of the Yin Mountains is their asymmetry from north to south—the southern slopes are steep, while the northern slopes are relatively gentle. The average elevation of the mountain range ranges between 1,500 and 2,300 meters. Acting like a massive natural barrier, it blocks both the cold air currents moving southward and the moist air flowing northward. As a result, the southern foothills of the Yin Mountains receive relatively abundant rainfall, making the area suitable for agricultural development.
