Jining Martyrs' Cemetery

Jining Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination.

Jining Martyrs' Cemetery is located southwest of Houjiagou in Zhaijiagou Administrative Village on the western outskirts of Jining District, approximately five kilometers from the city center, covering an area of 1,500 mu. In April 2002, in accordance with the directives of the former Jining Municipal Government, the remains and graves of nearly ten thousand martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Battle of Jining were relocated from the Wolongshan Martyrs' Cemetery to the Xishan Cemetery. The establishment of the “Jining Martyrs' Cemetery” institution was officially approved, and it has since been recognized as a “Patriotic Education Base” by both the Ulanqab City and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Propaganda Departments. On March 2, 2009, it was approved by the State Council as a National Key Martyrs' Memorial Protection Unit. In the same year, with an investment of 4 million yuan from the national government and 1.5 million yuan from local sources, the martyrs’ cemetery area, martyrs’ square, and Tiger Mountain People's Heroes Monument were expanded and renovated. The project was completed in 2010. It is now one of the country’s key protected revolutionary martyrs’ sites and is among only four such sites in Inner Mongolia. The Jining Battle Memorial Hall is one of the facilities within the cemetery. Its expansion began in October 2008 and it opened to the public at the end of 2010. It has since become an important red tourism destination in our city and district.
