Attraction Introduction

Strolling along Graz’s famous old street, Hofgasse, you will soon reach Freedom Square (Freiheitsplatz), where the main structure is a castle (Burg). The castle entrance is at Hofgasse 15. Passing through the first courtyard, you will come to a double-flight staircase (Dopperlwendetreppe, 1499), a masterpiece of late Gothic stonework. This castle is also regarded as one of Graz’s most exquisite buildings and a must-visit. Passing through the castle, you can reach the famous City Park (Stadtpark) and then head to the renowned Mausoleum of Ferdinand II.
