Each year during one week in June, nearly 200,000 people from around the world flock to a farm in a small town in the southwest of England.

Welcome to the Glastonbury Contemporary Arts Festival. The June event in Somerset, UK, has now concluded brilliantly. Performers included famous American musicians such as Dolly Parton, Metallica, and Lana Del Rey, and you could see countless singers across its 100 scattered stages.

The Glastonbury Contemporary Arts Festival was first held in 1970, established shortly after the passing of Jimi Hendrix, the legendary left-handed guitarist of the era, who is widely regarded as one of the most important electric guitarists in the history of popular music. It is the world’s largest open-air music festival. The event is deeply influenced by the spirit of the 1970s hippie culture and freedom movements. It also brings nearly £100 million in business opportunities to the UK each year.

What’s particularly notable is that it almost always pours rain during the festival, so nearly all performing stars and fans wear waterproof boots to enjoy the music in the mud. Aside from music, there are also dance, theater, circus, and other performing arts.
