Mur Island Bridge

This island bridge over the Mur River was designed by New York-based American designer Vito Acconci and built to celebrate Graz as the "2003 European Capital of Culture." The massive silver, shell-shaped artificial island is connected to both riverbanks by bridges on either side. Inside the artificial island, there are sunbathing areas, stylish bars, cafés, and an open-air performance space. It is considered a classic fusion of art and architecture, dream and reality — dazzling and splendid.
