Bijigitu Rock Carvings

Bijigitu, meaning "place with writing" in Mongolian, is located in a small canyon within the hilly area southeast of Wulan Hada Sumu. The canyon stretches from west to east, where springs flow year-round, surrounded by rugged rocks. The cliffs are mostly made of hard, smooth black granite. The rock carvings are found at the end of the small canyon. Due to the gentle slope of the southern wall and erosion by the northwest wind, the rock here is loose, while the northern wall is steep. Most of the rock carvings are carved into the rocks on the northern wall. The carvings depict oxen, horses, pigs, dogs, and human figures, rendered in bold and vivid lines that reflect the lifestyle of the nomadic peoples of the time. The carvings also include Tibetan, Indian, and other scripts from different periods, as well as Buddhist invocations such as "Amitabha" carved at various times.
