Shenzhou Landing Site

The grasslands of Honggeer Sumu in Siziwang Banner are known as the "Home of Shenzhou." Alongside the primary landing site of the Kennedy Space Center in the United States, Edwards Air Force Base in the U.S., and the main landing site for manned spaceflight in Russia, they are among the world’s most renowned spacecraft landing zones.

The terrain here is flat and open, with few residents, slopes no greater than 5 degrees, and minimal slope lengths. There are no railways, buildings, or rivers, and the air offers high visibility — all of which help ensure a smooth spacecraft landing and enable rescue teams to quickly reach astronauts. As a result, it has become China’s preferred landing site for Shenzhou spacecraft. All missions in China’s Shenzhou series have successfully landed here.
