Clausholm Castle

Clausholm Castle is a large country house in Denmark, located 12 kilometers southeast of Randers. It is one of the best-preserved and most beautiful Baroque buildings in the country.

Constructed in the 1670s by Chancellor Conrad Reventlow, Clausholm Castle was owned by King Frederik IV from 1718 to 1730. During this period, the castle bore the mark of Frederik IV's reign. In his youth, Frederik IV had eloped with Anna Sophie Reventlow, the daughter of a high-ranking minister, and later, once he ascended to power, he made her his queen. The couple lived in the castle for an extended time, and it was remodeled and decorated in a royal style, complete with beautiful gardens that exuded regal splendor.

Over the past 40 years, Clausholm Castle has undergone comprehensive restoration and reconstruction, and today it stands as a unique and iconic example of architectural heritage. The interior is designed in a magnificent Baroque style—lavish and grand, making it well worth a visit.
