Anglesey Sea Zoo

Anglesey Sea Zoo is an aquarium and an independent research and marine education center on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales. It is the largest aquarium in Wales, showcasing over 150 species of native marine life.

Opened in 1983, Anglesey Sea Zoo began when the owners of a large lobster wholesale business realized that the tanks used to ship lobsters had become a major attraction. Today, visitors can see moray eels, a shark pool, a kelp forest, and a Welsh lobster hatchery. The zoo also houses two species of seahorses: the long-snouted seahorse, found in UK and Mediterranean waters, and the common or tawny seahorse, native to the Red Sea. The facility now also includes a marine animal rescue center, caring for sick or stranded animals including dolphins, whales, seals, turtles, and seabirds. Anglesey Sea Zoo is both a conservation zoo and a visitor activity hub, actively involved in captive breeding programs and educational outreach.
