This cable over 1,400 meters long is Europe’s longest zip line
When speeding down at 45 meters per second, participants experience the thrilling sensation of flying like a superhero.
According to foreign media reports, the extreme sport of zip-lining located in Snowdonia National Park in North Wales has become a uniquely local tourist attraction. Visitors here can experience a thrill similar to skydiving, but challenging this sport requires a certain amount of courage.
The report states that this zip-lining setup consists of a cable approximately 1,460 meters long, about the thickness of a clothesline, along with several pulleys. Participants are secured in a harness attached beneath the pulley and hurtle down from the high end of the cable, reaching speeds of up to 45 meters per second — currently the fastest zip line device in the world.
It is reported that although the entire setup has a simple structure, the location and method of installation are very carefully considered, taking into account factors such as the distance and elevation difference between the two ends of the line, as well as the strength of the cable. This setup in Snowdonia National Park cost £600,000 and is Europe’s longest zip line. As participants zip down, cliffs and rock faces whiz past beneath them, giving them the sensation of being a speeding “flying superhero.”
