Carmarthen

Carmarthen is a city in Wales, UK, and also the administrative center of Carmarthenshire County. The city is situated on the River Tywi, about 13 kilometers north of the mouth of Carmarthen Bay. It is said to be the oldest town in Wales and was one of the most densely populated areas of Wales during the 16th and 18th centuries. Today, it is home to the Carmarthen Campus of Trinity Saint David, University of Wales.

The Picton Monument is the most prominent building in Carmarthen. Standing approximately 75 feet tall, the monument was erected in 1828 in honor of Sir Thomas Picton, who bravely lost his life in the Battle of Waterloo. Notable landmarks in Carmarthen also include the grand statue of General Nott in Nott Square, the historic Market Square, and St Peter's Church, which is the largest parish church in Wales.
