East Riddlesden Hall

East Riddlesden Hall is located in Keighley, West Yorkshire, England. This 17th-century manor is now under the care of the National Trust. The main building was built in 1642 by James Murgatroyd, a wealthy Halifax cloth merchant. There is also a medieval barn on the property.

Situated on a small hill, East Riddlesden Hall overlooks the winding River Aire, which flows nearby and continues downstream through the town of Keighley. The surrounding natural environment is picturesque, rich in flora and greenery. The main building is quaint and exquisitely crafted, with its grey-black color scheme complementing the lush green surroundings. Highlights include the restored two-story drawing room, two stunning York rose windows, a hidden garden, the ruined Stark Wing, and the legends of paranormal activity.

East Riddlesden Hall was used as a filming location for the 1992 film Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights and the 2009 TV adaptation of the same novel. It was also one of the filming sites for the 1997 TV series Sharpe's Justice and has been featured in the British documentary supernatural TV series “Most Haunted.”
