The Deer Bar in a Classical English Countryside-Style Grassland

The Gunton Arms is situated in the expansive and historic Elk Park in Cromer, Norfolk, England, and is a pub full of traditional English style. The reception hall boasts crimson walls, dark red leather sofas, and dark wooden tables and chairs. The harmonious color scheme creates a serene and cozy atmosphere, and when the fireplace is lit, it evokes the warm living room scenes from the classic novel Little Women. Inside the bar, massive deer antlers atop the gray brick fireplace, along with the oil paintings and old photographs on the walls, transport visitors back in time, immersing them in the nostalgia of the past. In addition to the bar, there are eight guest rooms that exude classic English countryside charm. Delicate Persian carpets, antique vases, light green floral wallpaper paired with mint green armchairs and red floral curtains create a romantic, girlish ambiance.

This elk park, established in the early 18th century, has gone through periods of glory and neglect. In 2009, the pub’s owner, Ivor Braka, and his artist wife purchased The Gunton Arms, breathing new life into this old farmhouse. In addition to preserving its rural elements, they further enhanced its classic and elegant English style.

 

Floral wallpaper with white backgrounds, red flowers, and green leaves extends the natural landscape indoors. The abundant use of wood materials and animal motifs echoes the theme of the vast grasslands, with deer often seen running and leaping just outside the windows. Here, you can even enjoy venison dishes prepared by Chef Stuart Tattersall. The outdoor dining area offers breathtaking views of the endless grasslands and magnificent sunsets, allowing you to breathe slowly and relax in tranquility.
