This summer, Beitou will shine with culinary stardom. The Sanyi Villa has once again invited Italian Michelin three-star chef Massimo Bottura to visit. Since earning its second Michelin star in 2006, Chef Bottura has continued to win numerous top food awards over the years, and in April of this year, was ranked third on the "World's 50 Best Restaurants" list (organized by the UK’s Restaurant magazine in partnership with San Pellegrino sparkling water company).

Chef Bottura draws inspiration for his cooking from travel, so the dishes he is presenting at the Sanyi Villa are based in his hometown of Italy, with “Travel with Me” as the creative theme. For example: “With Me” (Aula in carpione), which uses the Japanese culinary technique of tempura to reinterpret the traditional preserved fish flavor of the Po River Valley in Italy, where fish were marinated in vinegar and spices for preservation; “Spanish Carnival” (A burned sardine), which mimics Spain’s traditional ceremony of burning sardines to mark the end of winter—here, red mullet stuffed with lobster meat is coated with a charcoal-infused sauce to symbolize the burning sardines; “Hello Kitty” is an incredibly sweet dessert, where the chef wraps hibiscus mousse in a crispy cherry dacquoise and shapes it into a small round ball. One bite is like meeting the ever-cheerful pink Hello Kitty.

From August 2 to August 7, Chef Bottura will be a guest chef at the Sanyi Villa in Beitou, serving up star-worthy delicacies. Seats for this summer feast by the Italian master chef are limited.
