Huddersfield is a large town in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England, located near the confluence of the River Colne and the River Holme. It lies 310 km north of London and approximately 16.6 km from the nearest city, Bradford. The town is famed as an important city during the Industrial Revolution, the birthplace of rugby league football, and the hometown of former British Prime Minister Harold Wilson.

The town boasts numerous Victorian-era buildings, the most famous being Victoria Tower on Church Hill. Huddersfield Railway Station, located in St George's Square, is hailed as a Grade I listed building and was described by John Betjeman as the most splendid railway station exterior in England, second only to St Pancras in London. The bronze statue of Prime Minister Harold Wilson at the entrance to the square is also particularly photogenic. Kingsgate, Packhorse Precinct, and Piazza are especially well-known as diverse shopping destinations; the town center is also home to many well-known brands, and the cafes lining the streets offer a great place to relax after shopping. The Lawrence Batley Theatre, opened in 1994, and John Smith’s Stadium are key venues for enjoying outstanding performances and sports excitement.
