Introduction The Clock Tower can also be considered a symbol of the city of Bern. Originally built in the 13th century, this massive clock tower once served as the city gate of Bern. Today, this historically significant tower is one of the most famous cultural heritage sites open to the public in Bern.

The little figures inside the tower rotate and emerge from the magnificent clock face to strike the hour, four minutes before every full hour, attracting crowds of fascinated visitors. The charming design, numerals, clock face, and astronomical clock are the masterpieces of architecture, finally completed in 1530, while the exquisite mechanical craftsmanship from the 13th century inside never fails to amaze. Transportation Take tram line 2 and get off at the Türmli stop.

Ticket / Opening Hours Admission: CHF 12 for adults, CHF 6 for students. Opening hours: Tuesday–Sunday 10:00–17:00, closed on Mondays. Free guided tours are available daily from 14:30 to 15:20 (50 minutes) from May 1 to November 1.
