Changing the meaning of time — the Clock Tower is never late, the land of clocks

A mountainous country where alpine landscapes cover a large part of its territory — Switzerland boasts an excellent geographical location and is renowned as the "Park of the World" for its natural scenery and climate. Beyond its environment, Switzerland is also known as the land of clocks. With a stable economic market and advanced technology, its manufacturing industry is a main sector, and its clock production accounts for about half of the world’s total.

The Clock Tower in Bern, Switzerland, is a medieval tower built in the 13th century. Having stood for 800 years, despite undergoing several renovations, the tower and its 15th-century astronomical clock remain Bern’s most iconic symbol and a major Swiss tourist attraction. Einstein developed the theory of special relativity while in Bern, and it is said that while contemplating the meaning of time near the Clock Tower, he was inspired to understand that time is relative, which later led to his proposal of the theory of special relativity, forever changing how people perceive time.
