Bern National Zoo

Bern National Zoo is located on the banks of the Aare River in Bern, near the Old City of Bern. Opened in 1937, it is a public zoo managed by a private organization, covering 37 acres and home to more than 3,000 animals that live peacefully without outside disturbances.

Bern National Zoo is one of the most beloved zoos in Switzerland and the first to offer visitors insight into the history of Swiss wildlife. With its elegant environment and lush trees, the zoo provides an optimal setting for the growth and reproduction of animals. The zoo's inhabitants come from all over the world, including mammals, amphibians, reptiles, insects, and birds—some of which are extremely rare, attracting many visitors. The zoo features over 200 of Europe’s largest dioramas, as well as specimens of fish, amphibians, and insects made using modern technology.
